High-performance sport coaches understand that “talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships.” Similarly, talented individuals may achieve success as leaders (win games), but when they cultivate a culture where the best practices of high-performing teams can thrive, they can produce sustained results and growth (win championships).

Through team coaching, we make the science of effective teamwork simple, concrete, credible and easy to execute. We use your context as our lab. You learn through intentional practice, not just coursework.

The Reach Alliance

The Reach Alliance is a student-led, faculty-driven, multi-disciplinary research initiative dedicated to investigating the pathways to success for innovative development programs that are reaching the world’s most marginalized populations. Students join Reach from across all academic disciplines and from undergraduate and graduate degree programs. They work together to plan, execute and present an innovative and rigorous research project. Reach is built on teamwork. To drive proficiency among researchers, staff and faculty mentors, a rich program of ongoing professional performance coaching is integral to the experience. 

Sealy Coaching & Performance has been collaborating with the Reach Alliance since 2017, helping researchers learn the tools for fostering an optimal team culture including building their capacity for giving and receiving feedback, project management, debriefing and process improvement, meeting organization and facilitation, leadership and delegation, and consensus building.

 

Our Insight

One thing I took away from the experience was learning how to develop a team! Our performance coach, Jason, helped guide my team as we progressed with our project and the lessons we learned from him stayed with us even afterwards. Even now, when I am leading initiatives or mentoring a group of students, I use the techniques I learned as a Reach researcher to build and develop effective teams.
